Kihwan Sim

Born in Seoul, Kihwan studied voice at Seoul’s Yonsei University from 2002 until the beginning of 2008. He has been enrolled in Hamburg’s University of Music and Drama since the 2008 winter semester, studying with Prof. Geert Smits. Kihwan gave his debut performance in his favorite role, Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, in Seoul in 2006. Other stage experience includes the role of Leporello in W. A. Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni. He was a prize winner at the 3rd Seoul International Music Competition in 2007, and took first place in the Maritim Musikpreis competition in late 2008. In his spare time, Kihwan enjoys films; his current favorite is the trilogy The Lord of the Rings.
