In addition to our artistic director, Gustav Kuhn, this year we were especially pleased to welcome Francisco Araiza, John Norris and, for the first time, American mezzo-soprano Grace Bumbry. During the Master Class, the four instructors worked with our participant to rehearse opera and concert arias, ensembles and lieder, concentrating on musical, technical and performance aspects.

To offer you a glimpse of the exciting work that was going on with these young singers, we allowed observers to attend the lessons taught by one of our instructors each day between November 15 and 18.

This year, for the first time, the private final concert at the Bertelsmann Stiftung was followed by a gala Master Class concert at the Gütersloh Theater on November 23, 2010, which was open to the public.
