Diego Torre

Mexico, tenor, *1980

Diego has been a member of the Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program at the Los Angeles Opera since September. Prior to that, Diego studied under Maestro Rufino Montero at the Escuela de Música des Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico. Diego has gained stage experience as a soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Verdi’s Requiem with the Acapulco Philharmonic Orchestra. Diego celebrated his operatic stage debut on the stage of the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico as Gaston in Verdi’s La traviata. He took part in numerous competitions in Mexico in 2003, winning second prize at the Nicolás Urcelay Competition, third prize at the Carlo Morelli Competition and first prize at the Francisco Araíza Competition. Diego is a two-time participant in the Summer Opera Program of the Ezio Pinza Council for American Singers of Opera (EPCASO), where he studied with Claudia Pinza, Enza Ferrari and Maria Chiara.
