"Neue Stimmen” October 9, 1999

The 1,022 singers who entered "Neue Stimmen" 1999 first had to pass preliminary rounds held in Berlin, Buenos Aires, London, Madrid, Milan, Moscow, Munich, New York, Paris, Beijing, Pretoria, Sofia, Stockholm, Warsaw and Yokosuka (Japan) . The preliminary round held in Buenos Aires marked "Neue Stimmen" debut in South America, just as that in Pretoria was its first venture onto the African continent.
