CD/DVD NEUE STIMMEN 2007

The CD/DVD of the NEUE STIMMEN 2007 International Singing Competition with a total running time of nearly four hours includes not only a CD with a live recording of the final concert, but also a DVD of the documentary Singing from the soul: The NEUE STIMMEN competition turns 20 and a live video recording of the 16 arias performed at the semifinal concert.

The film, which was produced by the WDR broadcasting company and directed by Daniel Finkernagel, follows the young singers through the final 48 hours of the 2007 competition. It also provides a very personal look at the lives and professional careers of prominent singers who competed in earlier years: Natalie Stutzmann, Vesselina Kasarova, Violeta Urmana, Roman Trekel and René Pape.

You will soon have the opportunity to become even better acquainted with many of the NEUE STIMMEN 2007 participants, as they are already performing or will in the coming season be appearing at festivals and opera houses at home and abroad. Marina Rebeka, the winner of the 2007 competition, can be seen in the role of Agilea in Handel’s Theseus at Berlin’s Komische Oper until July of 2008. In August she will be appearing as Anna in Rossini’s opera Maometto II at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. The young Argentinian singer Fernando Javier Radó has been a member of the International Opera Studio of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin since January 2008, and will continue his vocal studies there, under the direction of Daniel Barenboim, until June of 2009. This June Anita Watson will sing the role of Najade in the Strauss opera Ariadne auf Naxos at the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London; Christiane Karg will be performing as a member of the Oper Frankfurt ensemble beginning with the 2008/2009 season.

The singers look forward to performing for you!
