Jane Archibald

Jane Archibald studied singing at the Wilfrid Laurier University, the Orford Arts Centre and the Tanglewood Music Center. She was a member of the San Francisco Opera Center, participating in the Merola Opera Program and being an Adler Fellow. Jane is prize winner of several singing competitions in North America and 4th prize-winner of NEUE STIMMEN 2005. In the Final Concert of NEUE STIMMEN she sang the arias "Da tempeste" from Giulio Cesare by Georg Friedrich Händel (audio-file) and "O zitt're nicht" from Die Zauberflöte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Between 2003 and 2005, Jane Archibald was engaged by Chicago Opera Theater as Poppea in "Agrippina" and as Susanna in "Le Nozze di Figaro", at Opera Ontario in the title role in "Lakmé", for Toronto's Opera in the title role in "Semiramide". During the season 2005/06, Jane will perform Elvira in "L'Italiana in Algeri" and Queen of the Night in "Die Zauberflöte" at the San Francisco Opera as well as the title role in Händel's "Alcina" at the Lyon Opera. From 2006/07 on, she will be soloist at the Vienna State Opera. Her upcoming roles in Vienna include Queen of the Night in "Die Zauberflöte", Susanna in "Le Nozze di Figaro" and Musetta in "La Bohème". Further upcoming projects include Konstanze in "Die Entführung aus dem Serail" at the Marseille Opera and again Queen of the Night at the Geneva Opera.
In concert, she has performed with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra Nova Scotia, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the Elmer Iseler Singers.
Jane Archibald is regularly heard on CBC Radio. She has recorded works by Charpentier and Vivaldi with the Aradia Ensemble (Naxos Label).
