Anna Samuil has been studying under Irina Arkhipova at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow since 1996 and made her debut as Violetta in the Conservatoire Opera Studio's 2000/2001 production of "La Traviata". She has already won several prizes, including a special prize at "Neue Stimmen" 1999 and third prize in Italy's Franco Corelli Competition.

2001 saw Anna Samuil winning first prize in both the world-famous Glinka Competition in Russia and the Klaudia Taev Competition in Estonia. In the summer of 2002, she appeared on German television as part of a project called "Stars of Tomorrow" and in June of that same year came second in the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She is a regular performer in concerts in the Russian capital and in 2002 and 2003 was guest soloist at the Estonian National Opera in Tallinn. In 2004 she became member of the ensemble at the Staatsoper Berlin Unter den Linden, debuting with Violetta in "La Traviata" with Daniel Barenboim as conductor. Furthermore, she played Violetta in a production of the Aix-en-Provence Festival with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and conductor Daniel Harding. She also appeared in guest engagements at the Vest Norges Opera in Bergen, at the Grand Théâtre Luxembourg and at the Festival de Musique de La Réunion in Saint-Denis. At the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels with the La Monnaie Orchestra she will sing Ophelia in Prokofieff's "Hamlet". Her roles at the Staatsoper Berlin are Violetta, Donna Anna, Adina, Musetta and Liù.
