Nathalie Stutzmann studied at the Academy of Music in Nancy, where she won prizes for piano, bassoon and chamber music. She has sung at the Paris Opera and given a number of concerts, including under the baton of Seiji Osawa and J. Nelson. She has also collaborated with Hans Hotter at the Paris Opera.

Nathalie Stutzmann is considered one of the most important alto singers on the circuit. Her triumph in NEUE STIMMEN 1987 marked the beginning of an international career as a concert performer and lieder singer. She has performed in all the world's greatest concert halls, including La Scala, the Théâtre de Champs Élysées, the Royal Festival Hall, Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic. She has made over 50 recordings, for which she has received numerous prizes, including the German CD Critics' Award and a Grammy. 2002 saw her singing in a production of "Pelléas et Melisande" at the Opéra Comique in Paris and in 2003, she can be heard in "Xerxes" at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.
