France, baritone, born 1968
The biography he submitted to "Neue Stimmen" 1999 went as follows:
Paul Gay studied singing under Prof. Kurt Moll at the Academy of Music in Cologne. His 1997 debut in Pforzheim was followed by engagements at opera houses in Osnabrück and Hannover. He was a finalist at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium in 1996 and a semifinalist at the Placido Domingo Opéralia competition that same year.
What is said about him today:
Paul Gay was a member of the Osnabrück ensemble until 2001, although countless guest appearances also took him to Hamburg, Cologne, Hannover, Paris, Rennes and Tours. Having accepted a permanent engagement with the Opéra National de Lyon from the 2001/2002 season onwards, he can be heard there throughout the 2002/2003 season in productions of "Boris Godunov", "Werther" and "The Queen of Spades". He is also appearing as Ferrando in "Il Trovatore" at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège. His repertoire now includes roles in "La Traviata," "The Magic Flute" and "Romeo and Juliet".
