Andrei Dounaev gave his first public performance as a contestant in Moscow's Bella Voce Singing Competition in 1998. He has been studying under Professor P. Skusnichenko at Moscow's Tchaikovsky Conservatory since 1997 and his repertoire now includes works by Puccini, Mozart and Tchaikovsky.

What is known about his musical career to date:
Andrei Dounaev has had a permanent engagement as a soloist at Moscow's Bolshoi Theater since 2000 - the same year in which he was a finalist in both the Orfeo Competition in Hannover and the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna. He has made guest appearances in both Macedonia and France, where in 2002 he could be heard in productions of "Eugene Onegin" and "Prince Igor" at the L'Opera National du Rhin in Strasbourg/Colmar/Mulhouse. His engagements for 2003 include an appearance at the famous Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse.
